Breathing Issues

Mouth breathing is a concerning issue but some strategies for parents to improve the breathing of their child includes:

  • ensuring that your child can breathe through their nose easily
  • book your child in for a dentist appointment as soon as possible, by the age of one
  • ensure your child is treated for allergies by a health professional as sometimes allergies can force children to mouth breathe
  • confirm that your child’s diet and environment are a contributing factor to allergies
  • if your child is mouth breathing, ask your dentist if they need a referral to an orthodontist
